Venaforce is a traditional herbal medicinal product for relieving the symptoms of varicose veins, this is based on traditional use only.
Used to help relieve:
* Tired, heavy legs
* Aching, painful legs
* Leg cramps

Ingredients:
1 gastro-resistant tablet contains
157.5?225.0 mg of extract (as dry extract) from fresh Horse chestnut seeds (Aesculus hippocastanum L., semen) corresponding to 50 mg triterpene glycosides, calculated as anhydrous ß-aescin. Extraction solvent: ethanol 60% m/m. This product also contains soya polysaccharide. Do not use if you are allergic to peanut or soya.
Directions for use:
Adults and the elderly: 1 tablet twice daily taken immediately after food.
Not for use in children or those under 18.
For oral use only. Read leaflet before use.
Keep out out of reach and sight of children.
This product does not require any special storage conditions.

What is the difference between Aesculus Forte tablets and Venaforce tablets?
Nothing: they are the same thing. Venaforce is the name of the licensed product.
Why are they called Horse Chestnut GR tablets on the packaging?
GR stands for Gastro-Resistant. It means that the tablet is specially coated and therefore won?t break down in the stomach (where it could potentially be irritating due to its constituents) but in the small intestine where it won?t have an irritating effect. Aesculus Forte tablets were similarly coated.
Why does it say that Venaforce should work within 2 weeks?
The reason the warning is that there is due to the danger of varicose ulcers developing and not being taken seriously ? varicose ulcers can get infected very easily.
Why is Venaforce contraindicated for those under 18?
Anyone under 18 suffering from varicose veins needs to be treated by a health care professional ? it's not a case for self-medication. Varicose veins develop over many years, or as the result of pregnancy, so they shouldn?t be present in youth.
Why should people who are allergic to peanuts avoid Venaforce when it doesn?t contain peanuts?
Venaforce contains soya oil, and there is a possible connection between soya allergy and peanut allergy, in that people who react to one are likely to react to the other (they are both legumes with a reputation for causing allergic reactions). As peanut allergies can be life threatening, it's always best to be safe.
Is Venaforce contraindicated with anticoagulants and blood-thinning medication?
A.Vogel Venaforce can be taken with anticoagulants and blood-thinning medication as it DOES NOT contain the coumarins that constitute a problem with such medication.
What does 'based on traditional use' mean?
Many herbs have been used for a long period of years to relieve certain conditions, such as Horse Chestnut for varicose veins or Saw palmetto berries for urinary problems in men.

A research paper published in 2006 in Advances in Therapy reviewed five clinical studies using A.Vogel Aesculus products for stage I and II chronic venous insufficiency ? the condition which results in varicose veins and lower leg swelling. A.Vogel Aesculus products are made from extracts of fresh horse chestnut seeds.
Aesculus was shown to work quickly with its benefits being felt after just two to three weeks. Horse Chestnut seed contains several important therapeutic constituents, including aescin which has a toning effect on the venous wall, working against the leakage of fluids into the surrounding tissues. It also inhibits the enzymes that break down the vein wall, protecting the vein from further damage.
